The idea is a collection of real cats you photograph on your walks. Several independent apps do it, with different games around the photo.

PoCats and CatchCat are real-cat collecting games on iPhone and Android. You photograph an actual cat and keep a card from the encounter. PoCats has no adverts; CatchCat adds friends and battles. Neither is an official Pokémon product.

How a real-cat catch works in PoCats
- Meet a cat and photograph it from a respectful distance.
- The app checks the photo before starting the catch.
- Hold the on-screen snack can and release as the cat reaches it.
- Keep a card cut from your photograph, with a name, number and rarity.

Which app should you download?
On Android: PoCats, CatchCat and StrayDex have store listings. On iPhone: PoCats, CatchCat, Cat Collector and CatGO have listings. Meowdex describes an iPhone product, but its store availability was not verified.
CatchCat documents photo keepsakes, friends and ranked battles. Cat Collector emphasizes photo sharing and stickers. PoCats emphasizes a personal album, renameable cards and ad-free play. Compare platforms, prices and features, or read PoCats versus CatchCat.
A cat album rather than a breed test
A cat pokedex can mean a personal record of encounters, or a guide that identifies breeds. PoCats is the first. Names and rarity are game details, not a claim about pedigree. For the patterns you can see, start with tabby, tortie, calico and tuxedo coats.

Is there a Pokémon Go for cats?
There are independent games built around finding and photographing real cats, including PoCats and CatchCat on Android and iPhone. They do not place Pokémon or virtual cats in the world. The phrase describes the collecting idea.

Is there a Pokedex for real cats?
PoCats works as a personal album of cats you have photographed, with names, numbers and rarity. It does not identify a cat's pedigree or establish ownership.
Can I use pictures from the internet?
PoCats requires a live camera photo for an in-game catch. If you want to design a card using a photo you already own, the separate browser card maker does that without adding a catch to the app.
