What is PoCats?
PoCats is a cat spotting game for iPhone and Android. You photograph the real cats you meet, hold out a snack can, and keep a card cut from your own photo. If a search for a studio or a podcast sent you here, that is a different PoCats: this one is the cat game.
Does PoCats use real cats or virtual ones?
Only real ones. Every card started as a photograph you took of a cat in front of you, checked as a genuine living cat before the catch begins. Screens, printouts and toys are refused.
Is it free?
Free to download, free to play, and there is no advertising of any kind. An optional membership called the PoCats Club costs $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US, and adds care moments, a bigger snack-can bag and a weekly box. It never changes your odds.
What if there are no cats around?
Every catch leaves a ball of yarn, and walking unwinds it. About 2,000 steps for a small one, 8,000 for a big one, and it opens for snack cans and coins. And if a cat turns up at your door on its own, that is the cat distribution system, and it is a cat in front of your camera like any other.
