Both turn real-cat encounters into cards. The useful differences are the catch, adverts, social play and the album you want to keep.

Choose PoCats for an ad-free photo collection, renameable cards and a short timing catch. Choose CatchCat if friends, ranked battles and community sightings matter most. Both are on Android and iPhone; both use photographs of real cats.

What the card actually looks like
In PoCats, the cat is cut out of the photograph you took. Its name, number, rarity and field marks stay together in your album. You can inspect the card and album details or make a decorative card in your browser. The browser tool does not create a verified in-game catch.
What older reviews can tell you
CatchCat's Google Play listing still displays July 2026 reviews reporting detection failures, freezing and requests to rename cats. Those are dated user experiences, not reproduced bugs in the current release. Server verification alone does not prove that PoCats is more accurate. If either app refuses a photo, clear framing and even light can help; no automated check is perfect.

Is CatchCat on iPhone?
Yes. CatchCat has an App Store listing, and is also on Google Play. PoCats is available on both. See the iPhone download guide.
Does CatchCat have adverts?
Yes. Its official site describes optional rewarded ads and in-app purchases. PoCats currently has no adverts and offers optional purchases.
Does CatchCat use my cat photo on its card?
Its current card documentation says the keepsake includes the photo captured during the sighting, together with generated names, traits and rarity.
Can you rename cats in CatchCat?
CatchCat documents generated names. A July 2026 review requested renaming, but that does not establish whether the current app supports it. Current renaming support was not verified here. PoCats lets you rename cards.
CatchCat is not detecting my cat. What can I try?
Check camera permission, use even light and keep more of the cat visible without moving closer to an uncomfortable animal. Consult CatchCat support if the problem continues. July 2026 Play reviews reported detection problems; those reports are not a test of the current release. PoCats also verifies photos and can make mistakes.
Is CatchCat legit or safe?
It is a real product with official store listings and a named developer. Read its current permissions, privacy policy and purchase terms before installing. Reviews about reliability are not evidence that an app is unsafe.
Does CatchCat use AI?
Its site describes on-device cat detection and duplicate checks, with some server processing after verification. Its card documentation says the encounter photo is retained. Automated checks and generated names do not by themselves mean that the cat image is AI-generated.
Can I move my CatchCat collection into PoCats?
PoCats has no CatchCat collection import. Keep access to the original app if you want to retain that collection.
